About The Position

The Diocese of San Diego is seeking a qualified, experienced and passionate educator who is deeply committed to developing Christ-centered, forward-thinking leaders to serve our future Church and our world. St. Kieran Catholic School is a parish school located in El Cajon, California. Teaching Responsibilities: Demonstrate the ability to model, deliver, and craft rich student-centered learning experiences around Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Demonstrate the ability to create and implement strategies for weaving STEAM experiences into multi-disciplinary curricula from grades K through 8. Work in partnership with Diocese, teachers and staff, modeling consistent effective teaching with technology, engagement, lesson plan design, use of technology, STEAM and online tools. Demonstrate fundamental knowledge of the connection between technology, art, music, and computer science. Understand and be able to design, develop, assess, and manage STEAM learning experiences. Attending parents’ evenings and providing parents with comprehensive reports on their child’s progress Administrative/ Other Responsibilities: Return voice-mail/e-mail messages in a timely manner Communicate regularly with parents Maintain a neat and orderly classroom Demonstrate a respectful demeanor with staff, students, and parents Observe utmost confidentiality regarding parent, student, staff information/conversations Supervise playground and other areas of duty as the role may require Other duties as assigned

  • Active, practicing Roman Catholic (preferred)

  • Possess a cleared California multiple subject teaching credential (preferred)
  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Clear criminal background check (a clear Livescan for the Diocese of San Diego is a condition of employment)
  • Experience teaching in an elementary school classroom
  • Positive professional references and recommendations
  • Expert level of technology and 21st century learning understanding and application.
  • Deep knowledge of content standards, effective instructional strategies, and assessment driven instruction.
  • Strong Google Apps for Education skills (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites, etc.).
  • Experience, but not limited to: 3D printing, software, Mac and PC.
  • Highly effective communication, listening, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective written, verbal, and technology-based communication skills.
