About The Position

The Platoon Lead's primary responsibility is to their platoon members and their customers. Platoon leads provide senior support to the school-based technicians within Wicomico County Public School system (WCPS). This includes handling escalations of technical issues, providing advice and recommendations, and problem/resolution. Provides services such as Mobile Device Management (MDM) and administration, support for WCPS's Visitor Management System, Technology Asset Management, Audio/Visual and Interactive Device support, and troubleshooting basic phone system related problems. The platoon lead follows all inventory control practices for technology assets. Platoon leads also monitor, prioritize, and manage platoon tickets in WCPS ticket management system.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in information technology or related field. Five years of directly related experience may be substituted for a degree if applicable.
  • Three years of computer related work experience involving management of endpoints, operating systems, and applications.
  • Ability to obtain Dell Tech Certification and CompTIA A+ Certifications within first six months of hire.
  • Understanding of Help Desk processes, procedures, and tools.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft Office products.
  • Willingness to keep abreast of new trends in computer and endpoint software and hardware.
  • Understanding of Audio-Video (A/V) systems, wiring, HDMI, VGA, LCD Projectors, interactive technologies with products such as Epson BrightLink Laser Projectors.
  • Ability to demonstrate exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead a small team of technology specialists.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift computers and peripheral devices up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and must have own transportation for travel to all school sites in the county.
  • Good work history including attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, monitor, troubleshoot Microsoft Windows based client systems.
  • Assist in the installation and troubleshooting of Audio-Video-related products - interactive projectors, whiteboards, and related wiring.
  • Monitor asset information for database accuracy, respond to requests for reporting and assist in county-wide audits.
  • Monitor and carry out preventative maintenance on endpoint devices including projectors and A/V equipment.
  • Perform general administration duties in Active Directory and Microsoft365.
  • Diagnosis and repair hardware damage to student and staff laptops.
  • Provide technical support to platoon members. Open and monitor Help Desk tickets, respond to escalated issues. Determine resolution to problems and update tickets upon completion as appropriate.
  • Assist in escalation of issues, including making sure tickets have all information necessary before escalation.
  • Relocate computers, network equipment and cabling as needed.
  • Maintain all necessary logs, equipment lists, etc.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties to facilitate the use of technology in accordance with the county technology plan in the organization.
  • Assist other staff on special projects as directed.
