The San Francisco Standard is seeking a reporter to cover technology in San Francisco and the Bay Area, from the big tech companies remaking the city to the startups, venture capitalists, and outsized personalities driving the latest wave of disruption. Working in The Standard's newsroom, you will have an opportunity to cover the world's most consequential technology ecosystem from its epicenter, shaping how our readers understand the industry reshaping their city and their lives. You will develop comprehensive coverage that spans the technology landscape, including startups, key founders, investors, and operators, emerging tech trends, and the money flowing through Silicon Valley and into San Francisco's neighborhoods, economy, and politics. You will pursue scoops on the deals, ideas, and people that matter most, while holding a powerful industry accountable to the city it calls home. This beat puts you at the intersection of ambition, capital, culture, and consequence. You will have a proficient understanding of business, capital, and funding dynamics. And you will have an eye for a colorful cast of protagonists, and the industry’s complex relationship with the city it calls home. You must possess exceptional reporting skills, a knack for feature writing, and a proven track record of enterprise journalism in a deadline-driven environment. This is a full-time, in-office position.
