About The Position

Help shape the future of technology and society! The Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C®) is an international association managed by SRI with a mission to grow the quantum economy via community-building and collaboration. QED-C is searching for a Technology Policy Intern to work with its Law & Policy Technical Advisory Committee during the summer and/or fall semester 2026. The Intern will work a hybrid schedule (4 days in office, 1 day from home) based at SRI’s office in Arlington, VA.

Requirements

  • Current graduate or undergraduate student (rising junior or senior) majoring in Public Policy, Law, Business, Economics, Government, Science and Technology Studies, or another policy-related program.
  • Successful candidates must have demonstrated interest in technology policy (preferably around emerging or frontier technologies), strong analytical skills, and proficiency writing for broad audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced coursework in science or engineering a plus.
  • Experience working with a membership-based or volunteer organization.
  • Previous experience in volunteer leadership positions or exposure to quantum information science and technology is desired, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the effect of salient policy issues on the industry
  • Draft persuasive and evidence-based position papers
  • Monitor and summarize policy documents and relevant legislation
  • Travel within the National Capital Region to support briefings and in-person events
  • Define a feasible side project (20% time) and how it will be impactful
