Applied Materials’ Quantum team within Strategy & Operations is seeking a Quantum Team Intern – Technology Market Research to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of quantum technology, market intelligence, and strategic operations, while contributing to a major initiative that connects Applied Materials with leaders across the global quantum ecosystem. The team operates with high standards for quality and follow-through, and values thoughtful execution, professionalism, and attention to detail. The primary focus of this role is to support the planning and early execution of a large, highly technical event. The intern will work closely with the Quantum team to support outreach and coordination with a broad set of external stakeholders, including researchers, industry leaders, startups, and partners. In parallel, the intern will conduct targeted market and ecosystem research to help ensure the event reflects current developments, emerging players, and influential contributors in the quantum landscape.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a Master’s or MBA degree in Business Analytics, Marketing, Communications, Strategy, Technology Management, Science & Technology Policy, Innovation Management, Entrepreneurship, or a related field.
  • Must be in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Strong analytical skills, including experience with market research, structured analysis, and synthesis of complex information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to create clear, concise briefs and presentations.
  • Proficiency with common business and research tools, such as Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Python, databases, or advanced research tools is a plus.
  • Comfort engaging professionally with a range of internal and external stakeholders; confidence, persistence, and attention to detail are important.
  • General technical literacy and awareness of the quantum or advanced technology community; direct engineering experience is not required.
  • Interest in strategy, operations, product, or technology-focused business roles.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and execution of a major public event for a highly technical audience, including coordination with internal teams and external participants.
  • Contribute to structured stakeholder engagement efforts, applying professional communication, persistence, and judgment to support outreach and participation efforts.
  • Maintain engagement tracking and coordination workflows, applying organizational rigor and attention to detail to support timely follow-through and effective event preparation.
  • Perform market and ecosystem research related to quantum technologies, including profiling potential attendees, understanding their technical backgrounds and recent research, and identifying new or emerging market entrants.
  • Synthesize research findings into concise briefing materials, summaries, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
  • Leverage analytical tools and AI-assisted research techniques to improve efficiency, rigor, and insight generation across planning and research activities.
