About The Position

Wethersfield High School has an immediate opening for a full-time position as a Technology Education Teacher. We are seeking a motivated and dedicated professional with a passion for preparing students for college, career, and life in an increasingly technology-driven world. The successful candidate will design and implement engaging, hands-on lessons that promote innovation, problem-solving, and technical literacy. Superior collaboration skills and a commitment to student growth are essential. The ideal candidate will provide instruction in one or more of the following areas: engineering, design, television & multimedia production/audio-visual technologies, automotive and small engine repair, or other technology-related fields. They will engage students through project-based learning, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and the practical application of technological concepts. In addition, the candidate will collaborate with colleagues to enhance instructional practices, integrate research-based strategies, and support students in acquiring both technical and 21st-century skills.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree is preferred, but not required.
  • Position requires the appropriate CT Certification in Technology (047) or Trades/Industrial Occupations (098).
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with time constraints.
  • Ability to handle and treat information confidentially.
  • Ability to plan and organize work schedule and set priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Ability to integrate instructional technology resources into district curriculum.
  • Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills to lead teachers, parents, and members of the school community.
  • Knowledge of best practice in instruction and assessment.
  • Ability to author routine reports, analysis, and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively and succinctly before administrators, staff, parents, and students.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging instruction in technology education courses such as engineering, design, television & multimedia production/audio-visual technologies, automotive and small engine repair, or other technology-related fields.
  • Design and facilitate project-based learning experiences that encourage teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate technology across subject areas and support interdisciplinary learning.
  • Use diagnostic tools, formative assessments, and student data to guide instruction and address individual needs.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to students pursuing technology-related career pathways.
  • Support students in participating in competitions, capstone projects, or internships that enhance their technical skills.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and innovative classroom and laboratory environment.
  • Communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues about progress and opportunities for support.
  • Stay current with advancements in technology education, industry standards, and best practices through ongoing professional learning.

Benefits

  • Full-time position with a salary range of $56,162 - 111,280 (annual, prorated).
