About The Position

Join IMEG as a Technology Design Intern in St. Louis, MO, and help shape the intelligent, connected building systems that power today's most advanced environments. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of integrated technology (ICT) systems — including structured cabling, audio/video, security, and other smart building technologies. Collaborating across disciplines, you'll see how consulting engineers translate client needs into innovative, code-compliant solutions. This hands-on role offers technical training, mentorship, and real-world experience to help launch your career in connected building design and technology integration.

Requirements

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer or related Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, related STEM field, or equivalent required
  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
  • Strong interest in building design consulting
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges
  • Developing proficiency in the use of BIM software
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing discipline-specific systems per code and IMEG standards
  • Research commercially available equipment
  • Support client relations, maintain project design notebooks, and prepare permanent record documentation
  • Coordinate design and schedules with other disciplines and suppliers
  • Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while tracking progress
  • Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final checks
  • Prepare and issue addendum information
  • Conduct job site observations and perform services per contract requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the employer
