The New York Times is looking for a creative and collaborative journalist to cover Apple – the tech giant that is a nation-state unto its own and that is synonymous with smartphones and other consumer electronics, tech services and apps – as the company faces increasing challenges to its power and questions about its future directions. You will jump on news, lead investigative pieces, produce scoops, and write features of the characters, issues and technologies at Apple. You would also help to shape the beat, using Apple as a jumping-off point to delve into a variety of topics. You will have a record of distinguished beat coverage, including a proven ability to break news, spot trends, develop sources and produce deeply reported features. You are adept at writing in a variety of formats, able to juggle deadline demands with long-term efforts, and both comfortable and creative with a full set of digital and multimedia tools. This Guild position will be based in San Francisco.
