About The Position

Responsible for providing instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the College. The teaching emphasis requires both classroom instruction and skills-based applied lab courses in content areas related to construction systems and technology, surveying, print reading, estimating, scheduling, sustainability, project management, and related construction management topics. The position also involves the supervision of students on job sites, teaching, student advising, and service (to the campus, school department, and service region). This person may also be expected to maintain relationships with or serve as a liaison to selected external stakeholders of the academic programs offered by this academic department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Technology, Construction Management or a construction related field.
  • Experience in residential or commercial construction.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in teaching both knowledge and skill based classes.
  • Familiarity with construction related software.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) First Aid and CPR training or certification.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to students' academic growth and development through teaching and advising.
  • Maintain competence in the assigned field of specialization and exhibit professional competence in the classroom, studio or laboratory.
  • Organize course and subject matter to acquaint all students with the course requirements including specific objectives, and methods of evaluation.
  • Conduct classroom presentations and activities utilizing methods appropriate to reach students of varying educational/experiential backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Encourage students to think for themselves and be flexible and innovative with teaching styles.
  • Provide regular and timely assessment of student progress.
  • Participate in program assessment and catalog revisions.
  • Participate in academic organizations related to teaching assignment.
  • Engage in appropriate professional development to enhance performance as a faculty member.
  • Serve on discipline, department, school, and campus-wide committees and initiatives.
