Genomic Microarray is a department in the Molecular division. We use microarrays to assess for submicroscopic deletions and duplications within the genome and STRs in both constitutional and oncology studies. This position performs both the benchwork for the various assays, as well as the initial review of the data. There is a mix of automated and manual steps for the assays. A Strong attention to detail is required. We work as part of a collaborative team with Genetic Counselors, Clinical Variant Scientists, and Medical Directors. Primary Purpose : Technologist Trainee is a training position, preparing the employee to work independently as a limit license scientist (Technologist) and to further gain ASCP certification within five years. Works under the supervision of a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Certified Technologist, or Technologist in providing services of both a technical and non-technical nature in the laboratory services area.
