This position is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of patient registration, including greeting visitors/patients, check-in and check-out processes, and insurance verification. The role also involves informing patients of costs for care and guiding them to appropriate resources. Technologist Assistants answer telephones and relay messages, relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions. They prepare patients for exams by assisting with dressing and undressing, positioning patients, and escorting them to and from exam rooms. Preparing exam rooms is also a key duty. Compassionate and effective interaction with patients ranging from healthy to critically ill is essential. Some positions may require starting IVs, dependent on the modality. The role requires knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent
  • 0-2 years of related experience
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and the public
  • Capable of establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers
  • Must be able to interact compassionately and effectively with people who range from healthy to critically ill
  • Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates competency in the performance of job related skills appropriate to his/her customer populations and departmental services
