About The Position

The Technologist Assistant is responsible for assisting the technologist in the patient/scanning process. This position requires detailed knowledge of all aspects of patient services, including patient appointments, registration protocols, billing practices, telephone practices, scheduling guidelines and back-up to the front desk when needed. The position requires the ability to plan, schedule, organize and respond appropriately to a wide variety of subjects and situations.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required, college degree preferred
  • Medical Assistant certification required
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are required
  • High levels of compassion, intelligence, and cultural sensitivity are required
  • Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff and patients and the ability to work independently
  • Thorough knowledge of administrative practices and procedures
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods
  • Normal hand eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to distinguish letters and symbols
  • Ability to respond quickly to sounds
  • Clarity of vision at close distances (20 inches or less) and far distances (20ft or more)
  • Ability to work independently

Responsibilities

  • Greet and check-in patients upon arrival in a courteous and professional manner
  • Properly input all required patient information into the system including patient history in complete sentences, performing providers, and any additional information to the radiology technologist
  • Directs patient regarding changing protocols
  • Prepare procedure rooms and assist in procedures as needed in compliance with RIS safety protocols
  • Properly identifies patients and demonstrates compassion while maintaining patient confidentiality, explain exam to patients to ensure patient safety and cooperation
  • Assists the technologist with patient position as appropriate
  • Comforts patients; anticipating patient needs, anxieties and questions
  • Stock exam rooms with necessary supplies, maintain equipment and reports any equipment malfunction to the supervisor or appropriate service provider
  • Check schedules on a daily basis
