About The Position

The Technician is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing vacuum trucks and related equipment, ensuring they meet safety and operational standards. Driving Responsibilities:  Driving is a fundamental requirement of all shop roles at Vac2Go. Employees must safely and efficiently operate vehicles and adhere to all federal and state driving regulations to support daily operations and customer needs

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of driving experience in accordance with CDL or Non-CDL requirements is required.
  • 1-3 years of experience with both automatic and manual equipment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a current DOT certification (CDL or Non-CDL).
  • Able to provide 10 years of employment history.
  • Proficient knowledge of electrical and hydraulics.
  • Ability to operate diagnostic systems and understand results.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Review the Plan of the Day board and monitor for updates throughout the day.
  • Execute repairs according to the Plan of the Day.
  • Conduct all required preventative maintenance.
  • Manage inventory of parts and equipment, requesting approval to order as needed.
  • Run diagnostics on all trucks and equipment.
  • Check in vehicles upon return, completing and submitting Check-In Sheets for approval.
  • Perform Check-In/Check-Out procedures.
  • Perform bag changes as needed for each vehicle.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for preventative maintenance in Fleetio or equivalent PM system.
  • Maintain accurate and updated documentation in the Fleet Management system for DOT requirements and submit it to the Operations Manager daily.
  • Manage time effectively to execute the Plan of the Day and address unplanned customer needs.
  • Monitor the shop for safety concerns and address issues immediately.
  • Communicate changes in the Plan of the Day to the Mechanic and update the team proactively.
  • Ensure required parts are available or on order before beginning repairs.
  • Diagnose and identify the root cause of issues.
  • Determine the best path forward to execute necessary repairs and maintenance quickly and safely.
  • Balance cost efficiency and quality in decision-making.
  • Troubleshoot common vacuum truck and equipment repair needs.
  • Decide whether a repair or replacement is the most efficient solution.
  • Identify issues that immediately impact the ability to meet customer needs.
  • Deliver basic training to customers about each vacuum truck and equipment type as needed.
  • Address daily customer questions and concerns via phone, email, and in-person interactions promptly and professionally.
  • Follow up consistently and timely for all customer requests.
