About The Position

Acacia, a Cisco company, fosters a collaborative environment for success and personal growth. The team of quality and reliability technical members conducts reliability tests, analyzes data, and collaborates on understanding product performance and reliability through DfR analysis. This small team significantly impacts product releases through rapid, efficient, and error-free qualification and improves product design through reliability testing in an agile environment. The role involves executing qualification and reliability testing of Acacia products under the direction of a reliability engineer, using existing test platforms, fixturing, and software. The technician will assist in validating and reporting test data for novel photonic packages and die, support the development of new test platforms, and develop knowledge in optics design, manufacturing, testing, and reliability. Key aspects include investigating failures, collaborating with Design and Process Development teams to determine root causes and implement reliability improvements, and working with design, engineering, manufacturing, and vendors in component failure analysis to drive corrective actions and qualification. The position also includes assisting in failure analysis activities and participating in lab maintenance.

Requirements

  • BS in Optical/Electronic Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science or related discipline or 3+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience working with optical fiber devices.
  • Experience in soldering.

Nice To Haves

  • Willingness to learn and interest in quality and reliability engineering for optical communications components and systems.
  • Familiarity with development of custom test racks and software to drive qualification testing.
  • Willingness to learn about Design for Reliability and Physics of Failure Analysis techniques and models, Telcordia and JEDEC qualification and reliability standards related to module assemblies and associated components, e.g. die, passives, optical components, capacitors, diodes.
  • Physical and electrical characterization techniques.
  • Knowledge of programming languages/software such as Python, Matlab, and Labview desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Execute qualification and reliability testing of Acacia products under the direction of a reliability engineer.
  • Perform reliability testing using existing test platforms, fixturing, and software.
  • Assist in validating and reporting test data related to reliability testing for novel photonic packages and die.
  • Support the development and building of new test platforms.
  • Develop knowledge and experience in optics design, manufacturing, testing, and reliability through test development assistance.
  • Investigate failures and collaborate closely with Design and Process Development teams to determine root causes and implement reliability improvements.
  • Work closely with design, engineering, manufacturing, and vendors in component failure analysis to drive corrective actions and qualification.
  • Assist in failure analysis activities.
  • Participate in lab maintenance activities.
