About The Position

Functions as an apprentice technician, learning under a Northside Honda Master Technician and progressing through the Northside Honda Apprentice Tech Program, working toward a Master Tech position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma / equivalent and 1 year experience as an Express Tech at Northside Honda and/or 2 years technical school.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Driver’s License

Responsibilities

  • Adheres the Apprentice Program level guidelines, progressing under the instruction of any assigned Master Technician, performing all duties as listed on Master Tech job descriptions and all tasks assigned by the Master Technician and Service Manager.
  • Performs work as outlined on repair order with a basic understanding and proficiency in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Assists in the diagnosis of malfunctions and performs repair on less complicates repairs.
  • Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Assists in the examination of vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Assists in road tests.
  • Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
  • Keeps shop area neat and clean.
  • Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
  • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
  • Required to begin, and show consistent progress with Honda web-based self –studies, as required by the manufacturer to obtain/maintain factory certification.
