About the position

The Technician, Tooling position at Summit Polymers is a critical role within the tool room, focusing on the repair and maintenance of molds, jigs, fixtures, and other tooling equipment used in plastic injection molding and assembly processes. This position requires a combination of technical skills, physical capability, and the ability to work under general supervision while ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency in tooling operations.

Responsibilities

• Repair molds, jigs, fixtures, and other tooling equipment involved in plastic injection molds and assembly of plastic products.
• Train personnel in the proper use of equipment.
• Read blueprints and use measuring instruments and math to build repair parts for broken molds, jigs, and fixtures.
• Maintain adequate repair supplies such as core and ejector pins, die springs, and other materials related to repairs.
• Modify molds, jigs, and fixtures to correct problems.
• Inspect and verify changes made by outside mold making vendors to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
• Maintain records of all repairs, modifications, and inventory performed.
• Perform special projects and other tasks as directed.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years experience in mold or tool repair, including experience with jigs and fixtures.
• Ability to gather and analyze information and make decisions from a limited number of choices.
• A minimum score of 50 on the Wonderlic Select Assessment (Traditional Score of 20 on the Cognitive portion).
• A minimum score of 80 on the Mechanical Reasoning test and 50 on Space Relations is required.
