Inspects, assembles and evaluates all surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure quality, determine need for repair/replacement, validates completeness of set, and facilitates effective sterilization. Operate sterilization equipment and inspect instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning. Perform decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols. Correct instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems. Maintain proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts. Perform regular quality assurance program audits of peers. Contribute to Mission effectiveness by promoting the spirit embodied with the Mission Statement: A. Demonstrate knowledge of sterilization systems used in accordance with established Infection Control protocols and AAMI standards. Inspect instruments, equipment & containers to assure cleanliness and proper function.
