About The Position

The Technician Service Manager is responsible for managing assigned Technicians to ensure continuous improvement in their personal development, technical abilities, and professional performance. This role involves providing technical support to the branch, ensuring prompt solutions for technical challenges, and supporting a stimulating environment that promotes engagement, retention, and commitment to core values. The Technician Service Manager will influence a culture that prioritizes safe work practices and ensures that Technicians are professionally trained to achieve a positive customer experience.

Requirements

  • High school graduate with at least 5 years of equipment service experience or a 2-year degree with at least 3 years of service-related group leadership experience.
  • Experience in a similar industry, preferably with squad leadership experience.
  • Intermediate PC skills, preferably in MS Word and Excel.
  • General equipment knowledge and basic mechanical aptitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful lift truck or similar dealer/business mechanical equipment service management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Technician Development by recruiting, hiring, and retaining qualified talent.
  • Conduct regular career planning sessions with employees to assess performance and suggest training options.
  • Perform timely Performance Management Reviews as per HR guidelines.
  • Monitor rework and provide coaching for Technicians involved.
  • Work closely with HR and Training Departments to develop necessary skills.
  • Enforce company policies regarding employee safety, hygiene, and behavior.
  • Manage the separation process for employees when necessary.
  • Ride with Field Technicians to train and reinforce time entry and paperwork requirements.
  • Schedule and conduct Customer Site visits for Tech-On-Site Inspections.
  • Assist Technicians with complicated equipment installations or repairs.
  • Manage Company service vehicles, equipment, and tooling.
  • Monitor Technician Productivity and manage to expected base goals.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA Standards regarding service tooling.
  • Minimize Workman's Compensation expenses through training and policy enforcement.
