About The Position

This role supports the Industrial Solutions Manufacturing team, initially working in the BorgWarner Arden Technical Center supporting prototype builds and engineering case studies. This role will transition to a pilot build area near the Arden facility and eventually transition to the new Industrial Solutions production facility.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • Basic knowledge of fluid systems, low-voltage electrical systems, and mechanical fabrication.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and practical computer applications.
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with manufacturing processes.
  • Experience documenting or improving assembly processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability.
  • Must be available to work various shifts, per business need.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with prototype or custom-built systems.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, or similar practices.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, sensors, pumps, valves, or HVAC components / systems.
  • Understanding of GD&T and work-holding methods.
  • Perform manual machining to support builds and minor component changes.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Willingness to further education and training to enhance capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble prototype and pilot systems per engineering drawings, schematics, and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to measure and build all different types of assemblies (Generator, Turbo, VTG, Full System integration).
  • Ability to learn or perform technical work such as an electronic Actuator 'learn' or Balancing (Low speed Core Balance (LSCB) & High-speed core balancing (HSCB) along with corrections.
  • Interpret Work Orders correctly and follow special directions as required.
  • Collaborate with engineers to identify issues, suggest improvements, and implement design changes.
  • Build subassemblies and full systems using hand/power tools and precision instruments.
  • Conduct functional tests and document performance.
  • Develop and document assembly procedures.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Coordinate with vendors for quotes, requisitions, and tool evaluations.
  • Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to suggest practical DFM/a improvements.
  • Ability to be flexible and find creative yet sound solutions as problems arise.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Support Manufacturing engineering with set up, debug and program machines.
  • Perform tooling setups and handle packaging/materials.
  • Monitor and offer solutions to high scrap areas in the process.
  • Establish tooling crib stock when required.
  • Supporting what equipment PMs should be and writing PMs as applicable.
  • Ability to make fixture / Jig modifications via welding (preferred), electrical and/or light machining work / tooling modifications.
  • Ability to interact / debug Robots, cobots, servos, etc throughout the process.
  • Identify and work urgent solutions around SAFETY issues.
  • Ability to proactively see safety issues and support resolution proactively.
  • Must have or be willing to acquire a forklift license for basic material movement as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
