About The Position

This position involves greeting patients, visitors, and employees in a courteous manner, identifying oneself to the patient, and explaining the procedures to be performed clearly and concisely. The role requires maintaining ongoing awareness of patient needs during procedures, responding to inquiries politely, and referring matters outside the scope of duties to appropriate personnel. Responsibilities also include observing patients' conditions, reporting abnormal conditions to staff nurses, and documenting in patient records. The technician will measure and record patient height and weight, perform routine vision and hearing examinations, and take pulse and blood pressure readings. Additionally, the role involves drawing blood and obtaining specimens as requested by physicians or registered nurses. The technician will assist with diagnostic procedures, maintain a sterile field, prepare and collect specimens, and ensure a safe and sanitary environment for patient care. This is a full-time position at NYP Medical Group Brooklyn, located in 7400 18th Ave, Brooklyn, NY.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • BLS certified.
  • One or more years of experience as a Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients, visitors, and employees in a courteous manner.
  • Identifies self to the patient and explains the procedures to be performed.
  • Maintains ongoing awareness of patient needs during procedures.
  • Responds to inquiries politely and promptly.
  • Observes patients' conditions and reports abnormal conditions to staff nurse.
  • Records appropriate documentation in patient’s records.
  • Measures and records patient height and weight.
  • Performs routine vision and hearing examinations.
  • Takes pulse and blood pressure readings.
  • Draws blood from patients and/or performs finger sticks.
  • Assists with diagnostic procedures using aseptic principles.
  • Maintains a sterile field during procedures.
  • Prepares, collects, and arranges for disposition of specimens.
  • Transports patients and assists in the care of the body after death.
  • Maintains stock items for examination and blood drawing rooms.
  • Notifies appropriate others to order depleted stock.
  • Maintains a safe, sanitary, and therapeutic environment for patient care.
  • Assists in the cleaning and maintenance of technical equipment.
  • Reports equipment requiring repairs to appropriate others.
  • May answer telephones and issue appointments as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.
