About The Position

This maintenance position provides mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance and reliability improvements in a chemical manufacturing facility, in compliance with applicable national and regional codes, standards and regulations. The mission of the Maintenance Department is to maintain & improve plant reliability by ensuring these services are performed safely, efficiently, accurately, and in a cost-effective manner.

Requirements

  • Able to read mechanical drawings/diagrams
  • Experienced with mechanical tools and measuring devices
  • Basic computer software and hardware familiarity
  • Skilled in basic mathematics including first level algebra
  • Good communication skills
  • High commitment to the craft, willing to learn and accept new challenges
  • Self-starter and capable of leading formal or informal work groups

Nice To Haves

  • A High school diploma or equivalent, associate degree in mechanical maintenance field, with 5+ yrs. of similar industrial mechanical maintenance experience using math and measurement skills.
  • Proficiency executing maintenance tasks under adverse conditions such as heavy lifting, cramped working conditions, extreme weather conditions, confined spaces, elevated heights and noisy jobsites.
  • Technicians will contribute to a team setting maintaining high quality of craftsmanship and housekeeping standards.
  • Job may require extended hours, work on weekends; call-outs and turnaround work (days & nights) upon request.
  • Other personal qualities essential for success are; a desire to share knowledge and experiences, a willingness to work cooperatively, self-motivated, ethical behavior, strong adherence to commitments, seek and accept accountability for individual actions and desire to achieve superior technical and interpersonal outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Use proactive hazard recognition techniques to work safely at all times, intervening to safeguard others, and actively support the plant safety culture.
  • Know and follow plant policies and procedures.
  • Certified in proper rigging techniques (NCCER) and signaling for lifting heavy loads.
  • Have strong analytical skills to systematically troubleshoot and repair stationary, rotating, and reciprocating process equipment.
  • General knowledge of layout and fabrication of piping and tubing, valve and fitting replacements, and proper disassembly and assembly of stationary equipment.
  • General knowledge of centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, gear reducers, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Proficiency with mechanical alignment and measurement techniques and tools.
  • Become qualified and safely operate rolling equipment (Crane, Fork Truck, etc.)
  • Be available to work overtime, off hour call-outs, and duty weeks.
  • Support department qualification requirements and succession plans
  • Continuously develop new skills as a diverse multi-craft technician workforce
  • Use computer systems to retrieve information and report work completed
