The Technician Level 2 position in Orlando, FL, is a full-time contract role focused on the fabrication of test equipment for tactical hardware development and manufacturing. The successful candidate will be responsible for reading, interpreting, and occasionally correcting engineering drawings and schematics. This role involves fabricating various test equipment, including test sets, test boxes, cables, and other assemblies or subassemblies. The technician will be expected to place and solder components on circuit cards and subassemblies, as well as fabricate wiring harnesses, which includes connector pinning and depinning, and applying mounting hardware. In addition to the fabrication tasks, the technician will build lower-level assemblies into single or multi-bay cabinet assemblies for delivery to Engineering or Manufacturing Production areas. The position offers the opportunity to work as an individual contributor within a team environment, collaborating with engineers and other members of the fabrication team, including fabricators, draftsmen, procurement, and quality inspectors. Daily activities will take place in a fast-paced fabrication environment and will involve using several computer-based programs to update job status, quality inspections, and engineering changes. The position operates under moderate supervision and requires a commitment of at least 40 hours per week, with occasional overtime. Candidates must possess a minimum of 1 year of experience in electrical fabrication, including cable and harness work, surface mount technology (SMT) board fabrication, and test equipment assembly. The role requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to adapt to dynamic and frequently changing customer requirements. The technician will also need to understand policies and procedures for the control of government property and be capable of working with hazardous materials. This position is non-exempt and offers a pay rate of $31.68 per hour, with a work schedule of 10-hour shifts over a 4-day work week.
