Position Purpose: Provides training and guidance on accounting responsibilities for current or new support staff employees who are performing account reconciliations, processing bills, initiating correspondence and collection activities, creating reports, maintaining appropriate documentation, etc. Assigns work to support staff associates, performs quality review checking of their work, and monitors team workload to ensure standards are maintained. Helps resolve complex or problematic issues. Logistics: Palmetto GBA- one of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina’s subsidiary companies. Location: This is a full-time position working (40-hours/week) Monday-Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm working on-site at 17 Technology Circle Columbia SC, in an office environment. SCA Benefit Requirements: BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and its subsidiary companies have contracts with the federal government subject to the Service Contract Act (SCA). As a Service Contract Act (SCA) employee, you are required to enroll in our health insurance, even if you already have other health insurance. Until your enrollment is complete, you will receive supplemental pay for health coverage. Your coverage begins on the first day of the month following 28 days of full-time employment. Requirements

  • Bachelor's in a job-related field.
  • Degree Equivalency: 4 years job related work experience or Associate's and 2 years job related work experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Good leadership and planning skills.
  • Strong business math skills.
  • Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support to area management and assists with development or updating of work instructions.
  • Creates weekly and monthly reports to provide ongoing feedback to management to enhance area quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Performs timely and accurate processing and maintenance of data relevant to financial records.
  • Performs quality control of financial records and coordinates with operations managers to assist with resolution.
  • Prepares journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Processes complex adjustments, deferrals and/or disbursements and enters refunds received into departmental system.
  • Responds to telephone and written inquiries from internal and external customers to ensure accurate billing, payments and/or collections.
