About The Position

The IT Support Technician is a customer service-oriented professional who provides technical support across 6 Gildan Yarns facilities. The position is primarily responsible for supporting the operations and manufacturing teams and is the first level of support for users. This position works to resolve issues whenever possible and reroutes helpdesk tickets requiring support from other IT teams. This position is also responsible for ensuring that the hardware and software in use is up to specification and meets Gildan standards and for supporting special projects and initiatives as requested.

Requirements

  • AS or BS Degree in Information Technology/Information Systems or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in related IT field.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong proficiency in MS365.
  • Up to 50% travel will be required to help support all Yarn Spinning facilities.
  • Ability to climb ladders, operate lifts, and carry/transferring up to 50 pounds of equipment.
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment.
  • Vision is required to perform required tasks associated with job.
  • Hearing is required to hear instructions, safety warnings, and other communication.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English language effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates IT Technical Support and the operations of the local IT Support Desk.
  • Provides leadership and technical assistance to facility personnel pertaining to E-mail, cell/phone system, basic computer needs, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Acts as the main IT contact at assigned facility.
  • Provides technical assistance to other groups within the Gildan IT organization on project development, testing, and implementation.
  • Supports the operations and manufacturing teams.
  • Resolves issues and reroutes helpdesk tickets requiring support from other IT teams.
  • Ensures that the hardware and software in use is up to specification and meets Gildan standards.
  • Supports special projects and initiatives as requested.
