The Division of Nutritional Sciences (DNS) is one of the largest academic units in the U.S. dedicated to human nutrition, integrating knowledge from physical, biological, and social sciences. The Golan Research Group, led by Dr. Yarden Golan within the DNS in Ithaca, New York, is seeking a full-time Research Technician. This group's research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of human milk production and composition, and their association with infant growth and health outcomes, utilizing in-vitro and in-vivo models and clinical sample collection for genomic analysis. The Research Technician will provide support for laboratory activities in molecular and clinical nutrition research under the guidance of Dr. Yarden Golan.

Requirements

Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting belonging.
Bachelor of Science and up to 2 years relevant experience or equivalent combination in biomolecular sciences.
Previous experience working in a biomolecular research laboratory setting.
Previous experience with basic biomolecular techniques such as ELISA, RNA isolation, PCR, Western blotting, cell culture, flow cytometry, and microscopy.
Proficiency in common computer applications, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently or as part of a team.
Detail-oriented and thorough in completing and communicating the results of work tasks.
Ability to follow, implement, and develop standard operating laboratory protocols.
Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes belonging.
Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience working in a clinical research environment, including biorepository management.
Previous experience in laboratory management.
Previous experience using RedCap software.

Responsibilities

Coordinate clinical samples collection, processing, and storage.
Coordinate laboratory management, routinely monitor and calibrate lab equipment and enforce lab safety protocols.
Perform laboratory techniques such as ELISA, RNA isolation, PCR, Western blotting, cell culture, flow cytometry, and microscopy.
Assist with the laboratory training of undergraduate and graduate students.
Analyze research data using specific software and maintain laboratory records.
Participate in scientific writing, presentation, and co-authoring papers.
Maintain laboratory records and databases, including organizing samples in an electronically maintained biorepository.
Participate in lab meetings, research-related discussions, and other activities.
Participate in projects with occasional work responsibility falling above or below current classification.
