About The Position

Principal Purpose of Position Responsible for preparing samples for analysis and performing a wide range of complex metallurgical services. This role requires thorough knowledge of specific testing areas and the ability to complete all testing independently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience as determined by department management.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience.
  • Specialized knowledge of metallurgical principles, standards, methods, and practices.
  • Proficiency in operating advanced metallurgical and laboratory equipment.
  • Fully proficient in applying technical skills across a range of activities; serves as a resource to others.
  • Resolves moderately complex issues and recommends improvements to standard procedures.
  • Anticipates customer needs and provides solutions to nonstandard requests.
  • Manages time effectively and proactively assists others.
  • Contributes to team goals and promotes collaboration.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make sound decisions.
  • Capable of handling broader, more complex assignments.
  • Comfortable working in a production-oriented environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting mechanical tests on specialized equipment (e.g., hardness, tension, tensile, resistivity).
  • Performing metallographic and magnetic tests using etchants, polishing tools, and specialized equipment.
  • Collecting and recording test data during evaluations and making recommendations based on findings.
  • Directing, training, and coordinating day-to-day activities within the Metallurgical Lab for the assigned testing area.
  • Developing knowledge of procedures in other testing areas and assisting as needed.
  • Completing other duties and special projects as assigned.
