About The Position

Responsible for installing, troubleshooting, programming, testing and inspection of fire alarm systems. Work requires practical application of technical knowledge of electronic principles, ability to determine malfunctions, and skill to put equipment in required operating condition.

Requirements

  • At least four (4) years of experience required in servicing electrical/mechanical systems in the fire alarm or special hazard/fire suppression industry.
  • Familiarity with systems such as Ansul, Fenwal, Fike, Vision Systems, Notifier, Marioff, Fire Trace, FCI, Pyrotronics, FAST, Firelite, EST, Firetek, FCI, Sensiscan, Simplex, Ademco, ADT, Gamewell.
  • Experience with programming logic is desired but no specific language is required.
  • Thorough familiarity with radio transmitters, radio receivers, computer hardware, data processors, and audio amplifiers.
  • Thorough understanding of the principles of various low voltage systems.
  • Working knowledge of the National Fire Protection Association, UFC or similar alarm codes.
  • Working knowledge of various fire suppression systems and how to secure them for testing.
  • Ability to climb ladders, pull cables, and work in confined and high spaces.
  • Skilled in working with up to 1-inch conduit (laying out, cutting, and bending).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and other technical specifications.
  • Possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Meet and maintain company physical and security requirements, including respirator qualification and clearance eligibility when required.
  • Possess good communication skills for a service team environment.
  • Detailed understanding of the interrelationships of systems or circuits; exercising independent judgment in performing tasks such as making system or circuit analysis.
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • REQUIRED NICET II Certification.
  • Ability to receive a security clearance for access to material up to and including SECRET and/or pass a National Agency Check.

Responsibilities

  • Works on various types of fire alarm systems and related devices by performing one or a combination of the following: component installation, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, troubleshooting, modifying, constructing, maintenance level programming and testing.
  • Applies practical application of technical knowledge of fire alarm panel/systems principles and determine malfunctions.
  • Handles equipment consisting of either many kinds of fire alarm systems/circuits, or multiple repetition of the same kind of circuit including electronic transmitting and receiving equipment, digital and analog computers, industrial measuring and controlling equipment, integrated alarms, and associated fiber optic material.
  • Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems in working on fire alarm equipment.
  • May provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • May perform work in other classifications when incidental work is necessary to the accomplishment of the work assignment.
  • Accountable for the proper use of tools and equipment commonly used in the fire alarm technician field.
  • Completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.
  • Timely and cost-effective performance of duties.
  • Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work.
  • Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Adherence to established company safety policies and good industrial and office safety practices.
  • Compliance with company standard operating procedures and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Having the ability to work well under pressure.
