This role is part of Alcon's Manufacturing function, a team that designs, produces and delivers innovative eyecare products to more than 140 countries through operational excellence and efficiency. The Technician II, Sterile Production Operations (Para-Professional & Support Path), is primarily responsible for operating sterile line equipment to fill sterile contact lens care products in accordance with applicable standards (e.g., Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), (Good Documentation Practices (GDP) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)), within a Grade A (Class 100) and/or Grade C (Class 10,000) sterile room. Provide the best productivity while showing efficiency and flexibility. Successfully complete an extensive training program. Participate in all aspects of sterile manufacturing including but not limited to handling sterile raw materials, inspecting individual components, performing lot changes, perform size change-overs (if required), sanitize rooms with Chlorine and Vesphene using spray guns (if required), improving yields, using calibrated measurement equipment, troubleshooting equipment, and using various support equipment. Interact and communicate closely with other Sterile Fill and Packaging Technicians as necessary at our NORTH Manufacturing site in Fort Worth, TX. In this role, a typical day will include: Perform all tasks efficiently in assigned fill room. Must be able to setup, startup & shutdown filling equipment, operate filler, troubleshoot basic mechanical issues. Be covered from head to toe in sterile garb to include gloves, goggles and hood. Complete required documentation (Master Batch Record (MBR), SOP, log books, etc.) in accordance with cGMP and cGDP. Troubleshoot and fix minor aseptic problems with line/equipment, alerting maintenance or supervisors as needed. Review/Close-out MBRs using MBR check list. Review all supporting documentation and sampling documentation. Ensure contemporaneous documentation and real time MBR review (CLC). Exhibit good aseptic technique in the fill room. Ensure that materials needed for production runs are available. Escalate any issues to Group Leads and Supervisors. Perform activities to achieve productivity and efficiency in the fill room. Perform rough, clean. Perform fill room line clearances and fill checks. Sanitize fill suites and ancillary areas (if required), in accordance with standards and procedures (cGMP, SOPs, etc.). Prepare line/equipment for daily operation according to SOPs for assigned work area, including sanitization of contact surfaces. Perform duties in accordance with Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) and company standards/guidelines. Collaborate with coworkers to meet business objectives and enhance team capability. Keep work areas clean and free of hazards or dangerous conditions. Identify and report safety hazards or unsafe behavior. Plan work activities in accordance with production schedule and shifting priorities. Share knowledge and experience with coworkers to develop team’s overall capability. Coordinate with other shifts and departments to ensure smooth execution of work. Communicate and work with Quality Assurance (QA) on product quality issues and compliance activities. Communicate and work with Maintenance to resolve problems with equipment. Communicate and work with Materials Control to ensure efficient flow of materials and products to/from warehouse. Communicate and work with Quality Control (QC-Micro) to ensure proper technique as well as good aseptic technique. Complies with all policies and standards. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Manufacturing or Distribution Center Experience
  • Prior mechanical troubleshooting experience
  • Knowledge of cGMP, GDP and SOPs
