About The Position

Technician II – Specialized Life Safety Services Job Summary: The Technician II – Specialized Life Safety Services role supports the inspection, testing, maintenance, installation, and servicing of fire extinguishers and emergency lighting systems. This role ensures customer facilities remain compliant with applicable fire codes and safety standards. The technician performs assigned service tasks, documents work performed, communicates professionally with customers, and participates in ongoing training to develop technical proficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 –4 years of field experience performing inspection, testing, maintenance, or service of fire protection equipment, emergency lighting systems, or related life safety systems preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform assigned inspection, testing, and service tasks independently in accordance with company procedures, manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Working knowledge of applicable fire protection and life safety codes, inspection requirements, and safe work practices preferred.
  • Experience documenting inspection results, service activities, and corrective actions accurately and timely.
  • Required licenses must be obtained and maintained as applicable to assigned work.
  • Completion of company-required technical training programs or demonstrated equivalent field competency.
  • Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and testing devices used in the inspection and service of fire protection and emergency lighting systems.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection, testing, maintenance, repair, and installation of fire extinguishers and emergency / exit lighting systems.
  • Perform battery testing, load testing, and functional checks of emergency lighting systems to verify required operational duration and performance.
  • Support inspections of facilities and fire extinguishers to identify hazardous conditions, deficiencies, or non-functional equipment, escalating findings as required.
  • Complete corrective actions and follow-up inspections to bring systems into compliance with applicable fire codes, building codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Document inspection results, service activities, and job details accurately and timely.
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding work performed, equipment condition, and next steps, referring complex issues or service opportunities to supervisors.
  • Prepare for service routes and maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment while following all safety procedures and job site protocols.
  • Participate in training, certifications, ride-alongs, and skill development activities, and related operational duties as assigned.
