About the position

The Technician II - R D will perform approved projects related to assigned area with supervision, carry out various analyses, collect and evaluate the data and communicate results. They will set up, operate and maintain various pieces of equipment and make minor repairs as needed. The role requires performing assigned tasks in a timely, accurate and cost-effective manner, suggesting possible modifications of procedures to improve productivity, maintaining complete and accurate records, preparing test reports, and assisting in the training of designated individuals. The Technician II - R D will also follow and promote the use of safe working practices and perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Perform approved projects related to assigned area with supervision.
  • Carry out various analyses, collect and evaluate the data and communicate results.
  • Set up, operate and maintain various pieces of equipment and make minor repairs as needed.
  • Perform assigned tasks in a timely, accurate and cost-effective manner.
  • Suggest possible modifications of procedures to improve the productivity of preparation and analysis methods or techniques.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records and documentation.
  • Prepare test reports and other written reports and required documentation with oversight.
  • Work within the framework of outlined methods in the most efficient manner.
  • Assist in the training of designated individuals in the skills needed to operate equipment and perform various tasks.
  • Follow and promote the use of safe working practices.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One or more years of related experience required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of scientific principles, standards, methods and practices.
  • Working knowledge of metallurgical/laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to develop the basic skills needed to set up and operate various pieces of equipment on fairly routine jobs.
  • Ability to work with moderate supervision.
