The Technician II holds a general responsibility for facility and production equipment throughout the manufacturing facility with regards to all calibrations and instrumentation. To support all Metrology tasks related to calibrating, updating, repairing, optimizing, and installing existing and new instrumentation. To support all instrumentation/calibration projects initiated by Maintenance work orders, Critical Change Requests or Project Engineering Personnel. Majority of work will be performed in a field calibration environment. Secondary, assist the Facility Maintenance Department in the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and performance of preventive maintenance to all production and facilities equipment. Technician III (In addition to the above): Will write calibration procedures for a variety of instruments as required. Serve as a member of project teams as a representative of the Metrology Department to recommend and advise is regards to instruments, calibrations, and systems.

  • Using appropriate standards, perform traceable calibrations in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) on instrumentation including but not limited to: Programmable Controllers, Set Point Controllers, Recorders, Transmitters, Balances, pH Meters and Electrodes, Thermometers, Gauges, Indicators, Magnehelics and Photohelics, Humidity Meters, Conductivity Meters, RTD's, Calipers, Timers, Level Systems, and integrated Systems such as Sterilizes, Lyophilizers, and Building Automation Systems.
  • Provide installation, troubleshooting, and repair of all Production and Facilities instrumentation and complex electronic systems.
  • Maintain calibration status on all instrumentation using Calibration Management software.
  • Understand DC and AC circuits, Controller Operations and electronic measuring techniques.
  • Read and understand electrical drawings, electronic schematics, and PID diagrams.
  • Understand the proper use of engineering and maintenance documentation required under cGMP's.
  • Communicate instrumentation and calibration status to others in an informative way.
  • Perform basic computer operations for accessing SOP Documentation, and Calibration Management Software.
  • Work flexible hours - This is a support position and work must be scheduled around production schedules.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Associates Degree or completion of Technical training course of study desired.
  • 1-2 years related experience required.
  • Working knowledge of electronic/electrical theory required.
  • Pharmaceutical & FDA regulated industry experience desired.
  • Ability to write complex and detailed reports to document work completed required.
  • Mechanical Aptitude required.
  • Manual Dexterity required.
  • Read & Understand construction blue prints required.
  • Ability to meet the departmental and personnel goals and ensure that job activities are clearly communicated and documented required.
  • Associates Degree of Science required.
  • Word Processing and Database knowledge required.
  • 4 year(s) experience in lieu of degree required.
  • 5 to 10 year(s) related experience required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of instrumentation and calibration experience in a regulated industry, preferably pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Maintenance of low voltage electrical experience is a plus.
  • Limited / Elementary Vocational required.
  • Advanced Vocational/Specialized Knowledge desired.
  • Microsoft word and excel experience desired.
  • Ability to lift [50] pounds unassisted required.
  • Working in Aseptic Areas and Exposure to Allergens required.
