About The Position

Microchip has an opportunity for a Technician II-Equipment (Bulk Chemical) at our Fab 4 facility in Gresham, Oregon. This position will support Bulk Chemical systems on the back day compressed work week shift (Thu, Fri, Sat, every other Wed 6:15 AM to 6:30 PM). Must practice excellent trouble-shooting methods and be able to work effectively in a team environment. Duties include but are not limited to: Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain semiconductor Bulk chemical systems including: Bulk Chemical and Slurry System Equipment and Distribution Manifolds. Repair and Maintain Kanto/FSI bulk Chemical system. Repair and Maintain CMP FSI and MegaFlow Slurry Distribution system. Maintain the required quality standards on the Chemical blending systems. Material handling responsibilities including - operating forklift, use of appropriate equipment, and procedures for ensuring proper management of hazardous waste, proper labeling of hazardous waste, following proper procedures for handling spills/emergencies, segregation of compatible materials, preparation for waste/containers for shipment. Participate in equipment installation and startup duties including equipment layout, qualification, and commissioning. Demonstrate excellent communication skills by troubleshooting system issues across different teams at Microchip. Work with systems containing electrical, mechanical, liquid hazards. Self-motivation and taking ownership of work performed with a positive approach are key competencies. Maintain an attitude of willingness to learn, embrace continuous improvement and grow in a team environment.

Requirements

  • AA degree in a technical field. Or equivalent semiconductor industry experience, military training or technical degree.
  • 2-3 years of experience in equipment maintenance.
  • Electronic and mechanical aptitude.
  • Passion for electronic and mechanical tinkering.
  • Creative thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Must be competent in MS Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong organization, documentation, and writing skills.
  • A successful candidate must be self-directed, self-motivated and work in a highly team-oriented environment with minimal supervision.
  • Comply with all applicable HS&E Standards including, but not limited to: HazMat/Hazwoper certification, PPE, Forklift Operations, Lock Out/Tag Out Program, Confined Space Entry, etc.
  • Participation as an active member of the Fab 4 ERT (Emergency Response Team).
  • Ability to meet the requirements of the ERT physical.
  • Must pass a physical, fit test and medical clearance for the usage of a tight-fitting respirator (SCBA full face mask level).
  • Must maintain physical requirements for wearing SCBA full face mask level.
  • Ability to travel infrequently for training purposes.
  • Able to lift, push, pull approx. 100 lbs; carry 50 lbs; sit 5%; stand 60%; walk 35%; must be able to perform activities that include climbing, bending at waist, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, crawling, handling, feeling, hearing, talking, seeing.
  • Work environment could include slippery surfaces, noise or vibrations, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, fumes or odors, dust or gases.
  • This is a Safety Sensitive position.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-3 years of experience in Bulk Chemical equipment maintenance.
