About The Position

The Technician I, Water (Lab) position performs established routine and/or special technical procedures in one or more of the areas of Environmental Waters. This position also adheres to corporate standard policies and procedures related to job performance, customer interactions, teammate relations, and information confidentiality. This position reports to the Supervisor, Laboratory (Lab)

Requirements

• 0 to2 years experience
• Must have High School Diploma
• Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook

Nice To Haves

• Two years clinical laboratory setting performing testing preferred
• Associates degree in Biological sciences or related field preferred

Responsibilities

• Processes water and dialysate tests from receipt in the laboratory to final result
• Performs specimen receiving and processing
• Sets up cultures and results water and dialysate cultures
• Processes endotoxin specimens
• Makes smears for gram stains for environmental waters
• Processes and analyzes water samples for trace metals
• Reviews and releases results into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
• Participates in required Proficiency testing
• Performs and documents all calibration, quality control, maintenance, and troubleshooting according to established procedures
• Ensures proper preparation, handling, storage, and inventory of reagents
• Reviews workflow reports and reports work activities and pending work to the oncoming technician
• Ensures accurate and prompt test results are reported to the appropriate care giver, especially in critical or lifethreatening situations
• Follows established policies and procedures to meet and exceed regulatory and accrediting agencies requirements
• Practices infection control and safety precautions and keep a clean and organized work area
• Maintains confidentiality of company’s records, clients, and personnel matters at all time as per policy
• Participates in Laboratory quality improvement program and safety
• Other duties as assigned.
