About The Position

Repairs and maintains City vehicles and equipment by performing the following duties. The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Other duties may be assigned. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.

Requirements

• Certification as a mechanic from an accredited trade school OR one active ASE certification from The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.
• One year experience as a certified mechanic OR 4 years' experience as a mechanic OR Military Occupational Specialty (Level 10 or above) conducive to vehicles and equipment within our fleet.
• Experience with Ford, General Motors, Dodge, International, Caterpillar, Kubota, Komatsu and New Holland manufactured vehicles and equipment is preferred.
• A Class B commercial driver's license and good driving record are required and must be maintained throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains vehicles and equipment with a primary emphasis on automotive vehicles, such as cars and small to medium size trucks.
• Repairs and maintains gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, brakes, clutches, automatic and manual transmissions, drive line, front end suspension, electrical and cooling systems, air conditioning and heating systems, and other related mechanical parts or systems.
• Mentors Service Bay Technicians.
• Performs diagnostic/trouble-shooting using computerized tools, scanners, web based tools, amp/volt meters and various other tools and resources.
• Maintains machinery and equipment used in the repair of vehicles and equipment.
• Cleans and maintains area of shop where repairs are made.
