About The Position

The Fire Alarms Technician installs, programs, maintains and repairs fire alarm equipment in accordance with relevant codes. This role involves working on various types of fire alarm systems and related devices, performing tasks such as component installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and testing. The technician applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and may provide guidance to lower-level technicians.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years' experience in servicing electrical/mechanical systems in the Fire Alarm or Special Hazard/Fire Suppression industry.
  • Familiarity with fire alarm systems such as Ansul, Fenwal, Fike, Vision Systems, Notifier, Marioff, Fire Trace, FCI, Pyrotronics, FAST, Firelite, EST, Firetek, FCI, Sensiscan, Simplex, Ademco, ADT, Gamewell.
  • Experience with programming logic, resembling that of industry logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Successful completion of two years formal training; one year of experience may substitute for one year of formal training.
  • Certification by a nationally recognized fire alarm certification organization such as NIECT level 2 or IMSA level 2.
  • Thorough familiarity with radio transmitters, receivers, computer hardware, data processors, and audio amplifiers.
  • Understanding of the principles of various low voltage systems.
  • Working knowledge of the National Fire Protection Association, UFC, or similar Alarm Codes.
  • Knowledge of various fire suppression systems and how to secure them for testing.
  • Ability to climb ladders, pull cables, and work in confined and high spaces.
  • Skilled in working with up to 1-inch conduit.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and other technical specifications.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Possession of hand tools of the trade.
  • Ability to meet and maintain company physical and security requirements.
  • Good communication skills for a service team environment.
  • Detailed understanding of the interrelationships of systems or circuits.
  • Ability to pass background checks and/or drug testing.
  • U.S. Citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Install, program, maintain, and repair fire alarm equipment.
  • Perform component installation, maintenance, repair, overhauling, troubleshooting, modifying, constructing, and testing of fire alarm systems.
  • Apply technical knowledge of Fire Alarm Panel/Systems principles to determine malfunctions.
  • Work with various fire alarm systems and circuits, including electronic transmitting and receiving equipment, digital and analog computers, and industrial measuring and controlling equipment.
  • Resolve complex problems with equipment and systems where documentation is lacking.
  • Provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.
  • Complete all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.
  • Adhere to established company safety policies and good industrial and office safety practices.
