About The Position

Responsibilities Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade computer hardware and software. Inspect, diagnose, repair, and service a variety of computer systems and peripheral, audio-visual, telecommunications, power backup, and network equipment. Contact vendors to order component parts, file warranty claims, and resolve issues. Utilize a variety of electronic testing and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and repair problems. Consult peer and senior department staff as necessary to resolve issues. Document, track, resolve, and report on problems and work orders using a web-based ticket management system. Pick up equipment for repair and return to site when complete. Prepare technical documentation, reports, and correspondence. Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies. Participate in special projects as required. Respect the confidentiality of records and District information in accordance with accepted professional ethics, state and federal laws, and Board policy. Maintain the confidentiality of information shared by high-level staff as necessary for the completion of duties. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a technical related field from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years of experience in computer support or a related field.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license.
  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills; organizational and management skills.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard networking technologies, procedures, and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of pertinent regulations, policies, and procedures for the functional area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
  • Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers, and applications.
  • Ability to assist and coordinate personnel in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively respond to customer needs and requests for service or assistance.
  • Ability to decipher, complete, and maintain industry- and manufacturer-specific technical certifications.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle up to and including large vans or (non-commercial) delivery trucks.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction or direct oversight.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Four (4) years of experience in computer support or a related field.
  • Valid advanced industry certification in computer repair or equivalent.
  • Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy required qualifications.
