About The Position

The Emergency Department Technician is responsible for assuring all oxygen tanks are full and available on each gurney, and stocks all rooms with appropriate bedside supplies and linens. The ED Tech transports patients to ancillary departments as needed. Other responsibilities include, assisting RNs and physicians/Pas with assessments, examinations, and treatments as directed; assisting the unit clerk with clerical duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor. Essential Job Duties: Reports and documents in the emergency department information system patient care performed such as: vital signs, bedside care, and observations. Provides telephone services, including answering and directing calls, giving information, placing pages to physicians, overhead paging of safety codes, and returning calls. Notifies ancillary departments of need for patient services in a timely and appropriate manner.

Requirements

  • CA EMT, CA Paramedic, CA CNA or Medical Assistant required –OR- Currently enrolled in RN program with successful completion of 2 semesters of clinical coursework.
  • BLS (Current from AHA) required
  • Basic dysrhythmia certification (BART) required
  • CPI Certification obtained within 90 days of hire
  • Current Phlebotomy certification – State of California preferred
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in the English language
  • Telephone, typing, and filing skills
  • Basic computer systems
  • Basic knowledge of nursing care terminology and functions
