About The Position
The Technician for the Digital & Information Technology Lab at Houston Community College (HCC) plays a crucial role in supporting the Center of Excellence in Digital & Information Technology (DIT) by ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of instructional labs across various district locations. This part-time position is designed for individuals who are passionate about technology and education, providing an opportunity to contribute to the academic success of students by maintaining high standards in instructional technology. The technician will be responsible for installing and troubleshooting instructional software in DIT labs, adhering to licensing requirements and standards for various classes, including those for School Credit Hours (SCH), Continuing Education (CE), and corporate training. In addition to software management, the technician will maintain the hardware and software needs of the labs, ensuring compliance with school policies and security standards. This includes monitoring the labs for cleanliness and safety, assisting with inventory management, and supporting both internal and external events related to the department and workforce technology initiatives. The role requires staying updated with current technologies and applying new skills effectively to enhance the learning environment. Building and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues at all levels is essential, as is the flexibility to relocate to different campuses as needed. The position is ideal for individuals who are eager to learn and grow within the field of digital and information technology while contributing to the educational mission of HCC. The technician will also be expected to demonstrate sensitivity to a diverse student population and be prepared to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
