Technician, Chemical Lab Position Summary Responsible for the execution of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) tasks such as conducting routine sample preparation, testing, documenting test results, computational calculations and reporting results. The role involves analyzing raw materials, intermediates and finished products to support manufacturing and quality control processes.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or bachelor’s degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry or related technical field.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in a laboratory or production / operations environment.
  • Knowledge of chromatographic techniques, sample preparation and chemical analysis.
  • Previous experience in quality environment
  • Technician experience in an academic, industrial or consumer laboratory environment
  • Familiar with testing environments and documentation
  • Previous experience with Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Standing and walking approximately 85 percent of work time.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous use of HPLC analytical instrumentation or equipment, but not mandatory
  • ASQ or other nationally recognized quality certifications a plus, but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Performs qualitative and quantitative analysis of samples and products using HPLC.
  • Analyzes and interprets chromatograms, ensuring accurate and reliable data.
  • Supports test method validation ensuring compliance with industry and company standards.
  • Tests raw materials, in-process samples and finished products for compliance with specifications.
  • Maintains accurate records of all analyses, including lab notebooks, chromatographic data and reports.
  • Records data from tests and inputs data in computer software.
  • Using suitable methods and a flexible interpersonal style to contribute to a cohesive team; facilitating the completion of team goals. Encourages open communication with and among team members.
  • Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
  • Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
