Technician BIM/VDC
About The Position
Exential is currently seeking a BIM/VDC Technician who is responsible for supporting reality capture and layout for the VDC Lead, Coordinators, and Designers on large construction projects. About Exentec and Exential Exentec and Exential serve the semiconductor, life sciences, and other advanced technology industries, offering integration and installation of everything from high-purity piping for gas, chemical, and water systems to chilled water, wastewater, and HVAC systems, along with a full suite of electrical and controls systems. Exentec and Exential can design, supply, install, hook up, and commission our own line of gas, chemical, and cleanroom equipment, including external OEM equipment, such as cooling towers, chillers, pumps, and heat exchangers. Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 0 - 3+ years of experience
- Ability to operate a Laser Scanner
- Ability to register scans
- Capability to understand the project scope for appropriate scanning needs for detailing and construction
- Ability to operate a Robotic Total station to assist with layout from the construction model
- Knowledge of current industry practices regarding the installation of various MEP systemsKnowledge of current industry practices concerning installation of various MEP systems
Nice To Haves
- A Bachelor’s degree is preferred
- Prior experience in design, creation, and modeling of Process, Pharmaceutical, Mechanical, and plumbing systems preferred
Responsibilities
- Performs maintenance and calibration of equipment
- Verifies the accuracy of CAD/Model coordinate data vs. existing field conditions on the job site
- Generates field impact reports to the BIM Coordinator/ Project Manager
- Identifies and resolves complex issues relating to layout and site conditions
- Willingness to learn new means and methods for layout and technology advancements
- Evaluates field problems and issues RFIs
- Prepares, coordinates, and verifies as-built data in CAD software
- Evaluates construction installations relative to 3D coordinated models
- Prepares “shop drawing” level 3D models for field routed work
- Assists in resolving model constructability issues and solutions for self-performed work
- Provides software training to field employees
- Other duties may be assigned
