Staff in this position assists individuals in the development of functional skills through training, guidance, and practical community experience. Training may occur within a classroom, workroom or in the community. Staff provides training and assistance which encourages the individual to achieve greater integration into the general life of the community and to increase/promote independence in community and work environments. Specifically for Autism Services, the role involves assisting ASD professional staff with the implementation of Autism Services treatment plan behavioral goals related to positive skill development and the development of age-appropriate social behaviors. This includes providing services in ASD therapeutically oriented activities and skills training programs, conducting 1:1 ABA therapy (life skills development, individual and group activities, behavior modification), overseeing various activities, instructing and assisting in self-care, grooming, personal hygiene, and other activities of daily living to promote independence. The technician will also assist with training and education in age-appropriate developmental milestones, follow IPOS guided by ABA treatment plans, document performance, behavior, and treatment progress, and use approved Continuum of Intervention techniques. This position supports individuals in the SED/ASD Children’s division of Community Mental Health, working with ASD/BCBA identified staff to implement treatment plan goals and assist with social behavior development. Services are provided in families’ homes or community settings and may involve ABA individual/family therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention, case management, OT and PT services, and ASD psychological and behavioral assessments.
