About The Position

VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center (SVRC) is seeking a Technician Assistant to support our Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) team. This role is ideal for someone who is dependable, compassionate, and eager to learn in a fast‑paced emergency environment. VCA SVRC is a leading specialty and emergency hospital offering hands‑on experience in emergency medicine, strong team support, and opportunities for growth within the veterinary field. The pay range for this position is $17.50 to $18.50 per hour. Compensation is based on experience, skillset and education. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; must be at least 18 years old
  • Strong communication skills and a professional, team‑focused attitude
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment
  • Reliable attendance and dependable transportation
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays on a rotating schedule
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and remain active throughout long shifts

Responsibilities

  • Assist technicians and doctors with patient restraint, treatments, procedures, and hospitalized patient care
  • Walk stable patients and report changes to the medical team
  • Clean and disinfect cages, treatment areas, and procedure spaces
  • Stock supplies, maintain laundry flow, and support overall department organization
  • Assist with radiographs, lab testing, surgical prep, and clean‑up once trained
  • Follow hospital safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols
