About The Position

The Technician Apprentice Program (TAP) at Cummins Inc. offers a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about diesel engines to gain hands-on experience while pursuing an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Automotive & Diesel Technology. As a full-time, paid apprentice, you will receive comprehensive training and support from experienced technicians and managers, ensuring a solid foundation for a successful career in the diesel engine industry.

Requirements

• Passionate about working with hands and using small hand tools while maintaining overall safety.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Minimum community college general education course requirement of 2.8 GPA in High School (unweighted), or 22 ACT score, or GED with one year of college including Math and English with a minimum 2.8 GPA.
• Must be 18 years old with 2 years of driving experience and possess a current valid license.
• Free from major violations on a 5-year motor vehicle report.

Responsibilities

• Obtain product technical issue information and utilize available resources including data management tools.
• Elevate issues to a higher level of expertise while balancing timeliness of customer response with investigation efforts.
• Capture all troubleshooting steps in the appropriate database to ensure seamless transitions and accurate ticket resolution.
• Champion and model proactive health and safety behaviors by identifying, reporting, and participating in actions to improve health and safety.
• Actively learn through experimentation when tackling new problems, using both successes and failures as learning opportunities.
• Plan and prioritize work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.
