The Technician Apprentice Program is designed to provide hands-on training and experience in vehicle repair, focusing on safety, efficiency, and adherence to industry standards. The role involves assisting Body Technicians in the repair process, ensuring that all repairs are completed thoroughly and profitably while following Caliber's Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P.) and guidelines.

  • Complete dis-assembly of vehicles to assist Service Advisors in preparing a 100% Repair Plan.
  • Ensure all needed repairs are identified to eliminate supplements and minimize repair time.
  • Plan work procedures by following work orders for all operations listed.
  • Remove upholstery, accessories, and equipment to gain access to damaged areas of vehicles as needed.
  • Store parts on carts or cover them to eliminate potential damage.
  • Mend damaged body and fenders by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts, ensuring all gaps and fits meet industry standards.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including welders, soldering equipment, cutting torches, and spray guns.
  • Fill depressions with body filler and remove damaged fenders, panels, and grills.
  • Bolt or weld replacement parts in position and reassemble after parts are painted, ensuring all gaps and fills meet industry standards.
  • File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces before turning vehicles over to the Paint Department.
  • Aim headlamps and repair or replace defective parts.
  • Inspect and test drive repaired vehicles to check for compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Assist Service Advisors in assessing damage to vehicles prior to repair.
  • Comply with all Caliber safety rules, guidelines, and standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, including washing cars and cleaning the shop.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be eligible for coverage under Caliber's insurance policy.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions, written estimates, and work orders.
  • Multi-tasking ability and adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
  • Personable and friendly demeanor with a customer service approach.
