About The Position

Technician A requires above average mechanical knowledge and performs most mechanical tasks assigned to them, including brakes, rotors, fluid exchanges, oil change, transmission, differential, cooling system maintenance, repairing and replacing tires and additional services (e.g. wiper blades, air filters, etc.). This role involves communicating with customers to educate them on necessary preventive vehicle maintenance. Additional duties may include some courtesy services, tire repair and replacement services. Compensation includes an hourly rate and a commission percentage that is standard across the company.

Requirements

  • Five(5) plus years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine tickets, notes and other correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers
  • Valid Driver's License
  • State Emission Certification- if applicable in your state
  • State Vehicle Inspector Certification- if applicable in your state
  • Requires tools for this position that enable you to perform the majority of services that you are qualified to perform
  • Need to have a toolbox with tools on site
  • Required to sign a contract with our uniform policy and procedure plan

Responsibilities

  • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with supervisory direction and factory standards
  • Work on more complex repairs and diagnostics than Tech B or C, including transmissions, heavy-line repairs and engine overhauls
  • Helps in the training of Technicians B and/or Technician C team members
  • Repair knowledge of Brakes, A/C services, Transmissions, Power Steering and Suspension Repairs and more
  • Diagnoses most cars that come through the shop, then repairs vehicle problems based on customer complaints and inspection
  • Examines assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
  • Partner with the Center Manager on scheduling repairs out for the day
  • Documents all work performed and recommended
  • Road tests vehicles as needed
  • Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean
  • Notify the manager immediately of any damage that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle
  • Keeps the shop areas neat, clean and organized
  • Maintains and is accountable for all store-owned tools and manuals
  • Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received
  • Understand, and comply with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know -this includes any SOP of our company guidelines and rules
  • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner
  • Reports any safety issues immediately to management
  • Participates in organization-sponsored training programs
  • Other tasks as assigned
