About The Position

DCS has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technical Writer providing support to the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC/HBD), Theater Battle Control Division. The Theater Battle Control Division manages efforts focused on developing, acquiring, fielding and sustaining programs that support worldwide communications, Battle Management, Command & Control, Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C2ISR), Tactical Air Control, Air/Ground Surveillance, Time Critical Targeting, Combat Identification, Radar Imagery, Integrated Air/Missile Defense, and Mobile/Fixed C2ISR Performance, Exploitation & Dissemination Facilities. This is a full time position located at Hanscom AFB, Bedford, MA.

Requirements

  • Must have and be able to maintain a Secret level clearance.
  • BA/BS degree.
  • 10+ years of experience, with at least five years supporting DoD programs.
  • Technical writing experience within the DoD relative to information and/or business systems environment.
  • Ability to work on technical content for learning about, getting started, using, configuring, deploying, integrating, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting software systems, products, tools, and services.
  • Ability to use and learn to use different authoring, development, and design tools such as GitLab, Website maintenance, Markdown, Javascript, Figma, and Lucid.
  • Knowledge management, information architecture, and content design and content strategy skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well with other organizations and personnel with disparate backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Strong technical, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.

Responsibilities

  • Obtaining, analyzing, and selecting the pertinent information.
  • Determining the most logical and effective sequence of the narrative.
  • Determining the overall length and tone based on the objectives, the medium, and the audience.
  • Writing the material.
  • Consulting on or selecting illustrative material.
  • Preparing the material for publication.
  • Write technical direction on product announcements, marketing brochures, advertisements, and marketing specifications.
  • Meet with customer representatives, vendors, system engineers, and program managers to establish technical specifications.
  • Study drawings, specifications, mockups, and product samples.
  • Create user documentation for a variety of material, including how-to guides and instruction manual.
  • Prepare charts, graphs, or forms to go along with rough drafts.
  • Ensure document contents follow required formats.
  • Write clear and concise policies and procedures.
  • Ensure consistency of wording among multiple documents.
  • Create table of contents and cite sources.
