The Fleet Technical Trainer is responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering comprehensive training programs to address the developmental needs of employees. This role ensures the provision of high-quality, timely, and innovative training curricula, encompassing safety, applications, and Fleet Mechanic job classifications. The trainer fosters and maintains collaborative relationships with Fleet operations to meet their business requirements. Additionally, the role involves assessing course and curriculum development, taking proactive measures to ensure employees are adequately prepared to work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory standards. The Fleet Technical Trainer also makes final determinations regarding employee training, work readiness, and progression status. Collaborating with Fleet operations, the trainer evaluates employee competency and delivers necessary competency training. Additionally, the role can involve Instructing or assisting with Commercial Driver's License (CDL) training as needed. Summary Train the fundamental principles of fleet mechanics and cover practical skills using diagnostic tools and basic troubleshooting techniques in various training programs, with an emphasis on training and developing the skills of those in the field of fleet maintenance. As a public utility, NiSource is required to provide continuous service to customers at all times. To ensure we fulfill that obligation, employees may be required to work outside their normal work hours and perform tasks outside of their normal responsibilities in support of emergency operations.
