About The Position

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Tax Engineer to join Apollo's Global Tax Team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in driving the effective utilization of technology to enhance the team's reporting, compliance, and operational functions. The Tax Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing solutions that will optimize the tax function by improving data quality, increasing automation, reducing risk, and aligning with the strategic objectives of the Tax department. This position requires a strong understanding of tax process requirements, the ability to capture and define data dependencies and flows, proficient project management skills to handle timelines and risks, and the capacity to consider regional requirements when creating global tax technology-based solutions.

Requirements

  • B.S./B.A. degree with 4+ years of experience in Tax, Engineering, and/or consulting.
  • Proven project management experience, capable of leading multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Extensive knowledge of US and/or UK Tax regulations and practices.
  • Advanced development and configuration skills in at least one of the following: Snowflake, Thomson Reuters OneSource, Alteryx, Pyramid, Python, Salesforce, RPA, and Microsoft's suite of products.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with technology teams and business areas.
  • Hands-on experience with implementing tax technology solutions, including all stages of the technology design, development, and implementation lifecycle.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to integrate applications successfully.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Independent, self-motivated, and able to work autonomously.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with finance, accounting, engineering, and other business partners to drive the implementation of tax software, and establish and automate processes.
  • Coordinate the Tax Department's technology requirements to ensure seamless integration.
  • Develop comprehensive business requirements documents, including an overall data strategy and roadmap.
  • Configure tax technology solutions using tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, Snowflake, Pyramid, and Python.
  • Manage relationships with multiple external vendors supporting tax processes.
  • Monitor emerging tax technology trends and continuously reevaluate and revise the tax technology strategy for optimal results.
