The position requires operation of a 40-TW Ti:Sapphire system for laser-plasma experiments and transfer/moving of the system in the current TPW high-bay. The position requires active involvement in the implementation of a new laser-plasma facility in the TPW high-bay. Purpose The purpose of the position is to maintain the Petawatt Laser and safety in PMA.

Requirements

  • Two years of related experience and Masters degree in field related to the work to be performed

Responsibilities

  • Facility and existing spaces Support on the decommissioning of TPW: Trident and TPW inventory and removals
  • Familiarize with laboratories and operation on 12F spaces
  • Periodically inspect infrastructure in UT3 and TPW facility to ensure safe operation
  • New facility planning Execute practical preparations for the UT3 move (infrastructure checks, staging, test setups)
  • Support planning for new facility (vacuum, control systems, laser cleanroom)
  • Support proposal writing for facility re-organization, construction, and space allocation
  • Aid in re-organization of novel laboratory spaces in existing TPW area spaces
  • Experimental and technical Familiarize with UT3 laser system (operation for laser-plasma experiments and troubleshooting)
  • Solidworks/AutoCAD/FreeCAD support
  • Optical setup designs (using Zeemax or similar software)
  • Operation of vacuum, electronics, and optomechanical setups to support laser-plasma experiment
