About The Position

The Technical Staff Engineer (TSE) serves as the technical arm of the Commodity Supplier Assurance (CSA) organization, focusing on collaboration with Commodity Supplier Assurance engineers, Mission Assurance Product Safety (MAPS), Chief Engineering, Program teams, Program Supplier Quality Engineering, and Supply Chain. The ideal candidate will provide leadership and collaboration in conducting systemic problem reconcilement projects related to Contractual/TDP requirements, First Article Inspection (FAI), SCARs, Failure Status Review and engaging in and influencing continuous improvement activities within Raytheon and its suppliers. You will be a key player in the management and identification of processes and requirements that support internal Raytheon and Supplier performance management while also representing Raytheon’s Vision, Values, Strategy and Goals. This position will be a remote-worker US role, with travel required throughout the United States to fulfill problem reconciliation efforts between Raytheon and its supply base partnerships. Domestic travel is required upwards of 50% or as required to support suppliers’ production schedules. This position is currently designated as fully remote. However, the successful candidate will be required to work from one of the 50 U.S. states (excluding U.S. Territories).

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in a STEM related field of study to include Engineering, Math, Computer Science or other related technical field of study and 10 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience
  • Experience with Supplier Quality Management working
  • Experience with commercial and aerospace / defense regulations and/or standards of a commercial equivalent with any of the following: T- AS9100, AS9102, ISO-9000, ISO-9001, AS9145
  • Experience utilizing one of the following aerospace or commercial equivalent Preventative tools – APQP, PPAP, SPC, PFMEA, Control Plans, PFDs, MSA, ZERO Defect Plan, etc.
  • Problem reconcilement experience with Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs), Printed Wire Board (PWB), Wire/Cable, Electrical Items, Complex Assemblies, Castings, and Machining commodities
  • Experience with SCARs and related Root Cause Corrective Action processes - RCCA
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret Technical Data Package, Contractual, and Quality requirements and assist Raytheon and Suppliers in the development of robust processes
  • Leverage technical experience utilizing supplier audits, assessments, failure reviews, and compliance to quality and technical standards across the supply base to solve complex technical systemic problems by implementing necessary improvements within Raytheon and Suppliers
  • Evaluating continuous product / process improvement projects (ZERO, APQP, Capacity Analysis) for overarching strategic impacts that can be translated into process, product or training changes.
  • Working with other Quality functions and Cross Business Teams (CBTs), to affect rapid closure of issues utilizing analytical capabilities and communications skills
  • Support Work Transfer Efforts on complex commodities
  • Work as the liaison between the Raytheon Strategic Business Unit Programs and Subcontractors on Multi-Program Disruption issues
  • Contribute to the development of program(s) key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure supplier quality performance
  • Act as a key stakeholder in the organization’s strategic development and process harmonization, working to integrate best-in-class supplier quality practices and standards within Raytheon and its supply base
